Trees trimming to keep danger away from power lines

Crews and contractors with Appalachian Power have been trimming trees to keep the lights on this coming winter in West Virginia and Virginia.

They said that the trimming of trees will also lessen the amount of damage and power outage during any major storm.

In July 2012, thousands of businesses and households lost electricity when a powerful windstorm swept the eastern United States, causing trees to hit power lines. In a report written by Greg Jordan on Bluefield Daily Telegraph, it is mentioned that the trimming of trees will try to eliminate power outage and will lessen any damages caused by a bad weather.

The operations of trimming trees will be throughout the year.
